I do not like genderbends due to the fact so much of it seems like it has sexist undertones / accidentally reinforcing gender roles. I would like to be charitable here however, as I do not think the majority of artists that have drawn genderbends have thought about the implications.As a trans man, seeing male characters being drawn as women (not even as a trans headcanon, but literally just making them cis women)
rubs me the wrong way to say the least. Especially when drawing them as "women" typically means giving them breasts and thick thighs... feels a bit alienating to people like myself who don't identify as women or with femininity.The concept of genderbends is also inherently reliant on the erasure of nonbinary identities as it is, at its core, "two gender" essentialism.Am I trying to stop you from doing whatever you find to be fun? No. Do whatever you want, even if I personally disagree with it. Just do it away from me.
